Best Bets Nadal vs Djokovic

Best Bets Nadal vs Djokovic. Today is semifinal day in Wimbledon with the second match on centre court as the main attraction. The 17-time Grand Slam champion and 2-time Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal vs the 12-time Grand Slam winner and 3-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic is playing for a place in the final on Sunday.

World number one Rafael Nadal is past the 4th round and in his first Wimbledon semifinal since 2011 and the Mallorcan mega star has won 3 Grand Slam titles the last year (2 French Open and and 1 US Open) while Djokovic has only won one title (Eastbourne) the last 12 months. Djokovic has been struggling to come back to his amazing level of play that got him 4 straight Grand Slam titles 2015-2016 since he lost to Sam Querrey at SW19 two years ago but is looking close to his prime right now. A semifinal in Rome (l. to Nadal 6-7, 3-6) followed by a quarter final at Roland Garros and a RU at Queens Club last week has been a fast improvement for Djokovic. Before Rome the Serb was 5-5 at the ATP World Tour this year. Djokovic has been very impressive in his 5 matches leading him to todays semifinal with only 2 sets dropped (Edmund and Nishikori).

Nadal lost only 36 games in his first 4 matches of this years Wimbledon before clashing with world number four Juan Martin del Potro in the quarterfinal two days ago. Nadal held 4 set points for a 2 sets to love lead against Delpo but lost the second and also the third set before finally clinching the match after almost 5 hours of amazing tennis. Nadal never lost confidence and found his way past del Potro´s 35 aces and big hitting forehands with a mix of drop shots and power tennis from the baseline.

Best Bets Nadal vs Djokovic

My bet on todays match is Nadal winning. With the level of tennis he showed against del Potro the only way that Djokovic could defeat him would be if he could play perfect tennis at the level he did back in 2015-2016. Djokovic needs to stay at the baseline pushing Nadal to make mistakes with his backhand down the line and aggressive, solid tennis on every point. My guess is that Nadal is too good for Djokovic now and will win in four sets. Djokovic might be able to win the first or second set but Nadals power, focus and confidence will bring him the match and make it 26-26 in the head to head between the two.

Nadal is 2-1 against Djokovic on Grass. Djokovic won their last meeting on the surface in the Wimbledon final 2011 in four sets.
