Federer new world number one – safest bet ever?

The 20-time Grand Slam Champion Roger Federer is now only two wins away from becoming world number one in tennis once again. It might be one of the safest bets in history to bet on Federer reaching the top spot this week.

The 36 year old Federer will overtake Rafael Nadal as world number one on monday if he reach the semifinals in Rotterdam this week. Yesterday Federer destroyed qualifier Ruben Bemelmans at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam in the first round.

Federer now needs to beat 34 year old Philipp Kohlschreiber in the second round and one of the dutch players Robin Haase (42 ranked) or Tallon Griekspoor, ranked number 249 in the world in the quarterfinals. The 34 ranked German Kohlschreiber in the next round is the biggest threat…but Federer is 12-0 head to head and has only lost 3 sets overall to the German…
