Nadal new world number one after Indian Wells?

Spanish megastar Rafael Nadal has only played one tournament on the ATP Tour this year. He lost in the Australian Open quarterfinals with a right hip injury to eventual finalist Marin Cilic and has not been playing since. Recently Nadal pulled out from Acapulco and lost 300 ranking points. Now he is also out from both Masters 1000 tournaments in the US, Indian Wells and Miami.

Still, Rafael Nadal could be world number one once again already after Indian Wells since he is only losing 90 point from last year. His great rival Roger Federer has the title and 1000 ATP Points to defend so he has to reach the semifinals this year, otherwise Nadal is number one again.

In Miami later in march Federer again has to defend 1000 points as the reigning champion. Nadal was the finalist last year and will lose another 600 points there.
