Why Novak Djokovic will win US Open 2019

Why Novak Djokovic will win US Open 2019. World number one Novak Djokovic is the favourite to win the 2019 US Open in tennis with all bookies. Here is a look on why Djokovic might be the champion in the last slam of the year.

Why Novak Djokovic will win US Open 2019

World number one Djokovic is in top form after another great year. Last week in Cincinnati he displayed his very best tennis in 1.5 sets against Daniil Medvedev and only lost that match because the Russian played in a trance…serving second serves in 220km/hour to win in 3 from the middle of the second set. Djokovic has Medvedev in a possible QF in New York. But in 5 sets, in a slam that would be another Djokovic win against the world No.5.

  • Djokovic’s form – he has won 4 of the last 5 slams and he will be at his very best again now.
  • Slam No.17 – he is looking for his 4th US Open and 17th overall. That would take him to one behind Nadal and 3 behind Federer.
  • US Open No. 4 – With a 4th title in US Open he will be only one behind Open era leaders Federer, Sampras & Connors.
  • Year-end number one – with the title and 2000 ATP ranking points he will be way ahead of second place Nadal, going for a record 6th year-end No.1
  • The draw. Djokovic has a very good draw with no scary opponents until a possible 4th round against Stan Wawrinka.

Djokovic has the form and lots of extra motivation. He won the final of the Australian Open easy against Nadal in straight sets and has a mental edge over Nadal. He is chasing Roger Federer’s record 20 Grand Slam titles and wants to go down as the GOAT in tennis.
