Serb Novak Djokovic is once again ranked at the top of the ATP rankings from monday. Career rival Rafael Nadal just withdrew from the Masters 1000 tournament in Paris and this means Djokovic is ranked number one next monday.
After his loss to Marco Cecchinato in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros in June the Serb said he might not play Wimbledon. He changed his mind and has since created new history. Runner Up in Queens, champion in Wimbledon, Cincinnati, US Open and Shanghai has skyrocketed Djokovic from 22 to number one in less then 5 months.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal won 6 straight Grand Slams from January 2017 to Wimbledon 2018. Djokovic now has almost no ranking points to defend until next years Wimbledon and he will probably stay number one for at least a year from now. Without any new injuriies probably longer. Roger Federer’s record 308 weeks as number one is a serious goal for the Serb to reach now. Check out the top list for Most Weeks Number One Tennis here.
