Premier League 2018/2019: Arsenal – Preview, Squad, and Signings
In this 20 piece series, we will discuss all Premier League teams featured in the 2018/2019. We will start in chronological order and first up, Arsenal.
Arsenal, the North London team has gone through one of the biggest transitions in their history. Arsene Wegner, the legendary manager left his post after a couple of season with lacking results and dissatisfied fans. It was surely time for a change but the question is still palpable, is his replacement the right man for the job?
Unai Emery, the former Sevilla, and PSG manager will try to fill Wenger shoes of 20 + years. Will it be successful? Well, we all remember David Moses and Sir Alex Fergusson and that disaster. Manchester United are still struggling even though, Ferguson resigned plenty of years ago. Even though you could argue that both of these managers have had a massive impact on their clubs, the Manchester United legend was in a league of their own. This won’t be the same catastrophic scenario. Emery will have to piece together a somewhat damaged squad with lacking leadership. The signing of Litchsteiner will help monumental with this. The Suisse international have the experience of being a leader together with winning almost everything with his former club Juventus. Together with Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papostoupolos, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi it will be an interesting season and squad for all Arsenal supporters. Even if it looks promising, it is important that the manager gets time to build a new team from the ashes of Wenger. This season won’t be a fairytale all the time and the team will be competing for the Champions League spots like they have been doing since 2005.
