Premier League 2018/2019: Cardiff – Preview, Squad, and Signings
Newly promoted Cardiff City will try to manage the competition in the Premier League after coming second in the championship last season. Will the Welshmen be able to stay up or will it become a direct relegation in their first appearance in the highest tier in a couple of years?
Personally, I’m really excited to see Fulham and Wolverhampton back in the Premier League. Sadly, I don’t feel the same for Cardiff City. If you followed the Championship last season you can see the difference between the newcomers. To be blunt, the team play boring football to watch. Successful but boring.
This season will be tough for the Welshmen. Cardiff was still able to get 90 points in the Championship last season but only scoring 69 goals, least of the top 6 clubs in the league. Only scoring 69 goals in 46 games against easier competition won’t go far in the Premier League. But on the contrary, the club signed striker Bobby Reid out of Bristol City. That could really make a difference. Together with Junior Hoilett and Kenneth Zohore, Cardiff could be to some trouble but more against the lower level of the table.
It won’t be enough and Cardiff will be relegated at the end of the season.
Cardiff transfer so far :
Josh Murphy (Norwich)
Greg Cunningham (Preston)
Alex Smithies (QPR)
Bobby Reid (Bristol City)
1,66 – Cardiff to be relegated
4,50 – Bobby Reid to become top scorer
1,90 – Cardiff to gain less than 33,5 points
