Premier League 2018/2019: Man United – Preview, Squad, and Signings
Mourinho has to perform this year. The patience of the demanding United supports are soon gone and then the Portuguese will be out the door rather sooner than later. But reports of dissatisfied players has surfaced so the question remains, has Mourinho lost the dressing room?
Manchester United are situated in a place where they are pretty uncomfortable. With Sir Alex Ferguson, the team experienced success after success and the supporters became used to always win the domestic league and challenge for the Champions League title. Since his retirement, the team is not the same and with Moyes and now Mourinho, the team has been infected due to the lacking of results.
Regarding the transfers this summer, the team has been on the downside. Today, the 9th of August, one day before the transfer deadline, media reports that no matter what, Manchester United will sign a defender. The players mentioned are Bayern Munich’s Boateng, Leicester’s Harry Maguire or Tottenham’s Toby Alderweild. Just now, Boateng seems to be doing a physical at Paris Saint Germain. We’ll see what happens today. But the most interesting signing this far must be the Brazilian and former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred. He will be truly interesting to watch and especially since his pre-season performances have been hailed by both journalist and supporters alike.
Well, sadly for all you Manchester United fans, this won’t be the year when you can raise the Premier League title in the air and this will most likely result in that the trust in Mourinho will be lost. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Mourinho will be sacked before Christmas. It will be interesting to watch neither to say.
