Ernests Gulbis is one year younger then Novak Djokovic and broke in to the top 50 in the world as a 19 year old in October 2007.  Seven years later he reached his career high when he was number 10 in the world in June 2014. For a couple of years 2014-2015 he was steadily ranked top fifteen but dropped to 589 last year in October. Now Gulbis makes an effort to a comeback to the top and he has been playing great tennis in Stockholm this week. In the second round he dismissed Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-4, 6-2 and then he won against Jack Sock in the QF and top seed John Isner in the semis both in 3 sets.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the Greek sensation that reached the finals in Barcelona this spring (l. Nadal) and again reached a ATP final in Toronto after having won against Djokobvic in the quarters (l. Nadal). Tsitsipas is looking for his first ATP title in Stockholm today and is the favorite to win with all bookies. But Gulbis is a really good player, as he has shown this week and many times before. Back in 2014 he won against Roger Federer in the French Open fourth round and lost in four sets in the semis to Djokovic.

BETTING ODDS Stockholm Open final 2018

GULBIS  2-0 – 4.90
GULBIS  2-1 – 5.75

TSITSIPAS  2-0 – 2.25
TSITSIPAS  2-1 – 3.95

BEST BET – the safe bet is betting on the Greek winning his first title. Gulbis has played a lot more and longer matches (including qualifying) and should be a bit tired. Ill bet on Tsitsipas in 3 sets.
