World Cup Russia – France vs Belgium – Best odds & predictions – 10/07/18
The semi-finals are finally here and jeez, times flies when you’re having fun. What happened? It felt like the tournament started like yesterday. But after a lot of games, there are only four teams left. Portugal, Spain, Germany, and Brazil are out. The last countries standing are all European; Croatia, England, France, and Belgium. The last two will face each other in the first of the two semi-finals.
France has had a somewhat pleasant road to the semi-final. The team really did not really perform in the group stages but still won the group. Winning against Argentina in the rounds of 16 and later Uruguay in the quarter has made the team opposing their neighboring country and local rivals, Belgium. Belgium meanwhile has not lost a single point this far in the tournament. Winning against Tunisia, Panama, England, Japan and just a couple of days ago, Brazil. Even though Brazil played the best half by any team in the tournament in the second half against Belgium, the Red Devils made it through. The national team of Belgium has been promising for a couple of years and was a big disappointment when they lost against Wales in the Euros 2016. Will Lukaku, Hazard, and De Bruyne be able to take the nation of 11 million to their first World Cup final ever?
Sadly, this might be the end of the tournament for Martinez and his men. Belgium will have to play the way they did the first half against Brazil to stand a chance and their counterattacking has to be spot-on. France, meanwhile, has with Griezmann and Mbappe been ruthless in their offensive plays. If they will continue similarly, the strikers won’t have that big of a problem beating the sometimes shaky Belgian defense. France will win it but only barely. This game is the most difficult game to predict this far in the tournament so if you can put in a safe-bet, that is recommended. 2-1 France.
