Well, this scenario was nothing that I predicted before the tournament started. The performance of Uruguay hasn’t been convincing while Russia has dominated their last two games. The lack of competitive games for the host nation before the tournament seemed like it would harm the squad but that has been the opposite. To be honest, the team hasn’t face t he really difficult opponents yet and this fixture will truly test how good the team really is.

Even if both teams have qualified for the rounds of 16, after the game we will know who will end up winning the group. It should be noted though that it does not really matter who will win it since they will most likely play against either Portugal or Spain. Choosing between two evils but if Iran would be able to do a big upset in group B, it might be advantageously to win this game. If Russia continues to play like they have done, they should win it.
